Why you should choose a leasing broker to support one of life’s biggest financial decisions

Let’s be honest – after your house, your car is probably the second most expensive thing you’ll ever splash your cash on. It’s a big deal, and frankly, it can feel a bit overwhelming.

You’ve got options coming out of your ears.

Buying privately (whether that’s from a friend of a friend or using an online platform), visiting a dealership with a dizzying array of both cars and financing options, or – and this is where we come in – choosing a car leasing broker.

Car leasing is growing in popularity, and for good reason.

The flexibility it offers is pretty hard to beat. But if you’ve never used a leasing broker before, it might feel a bit like stepping into uncharted territory.

But don’t worry. We’re here to give you the lowdown on why you might want to give it a go, and how we (a very good leasing broker) can help.

What exactly is a broker?

Think of a broker as the ultimate matchmaker, but instead of finding you love, they’re finding you the perfect car deal.

Which, if we’re honest, is a type of love in itself.

A broker is someone (or a company) that acts as the middleman between you and the people who actually provide the finance. The broker (us) does all the legwork in sourcing and marketing the deal, and in return, we make some commission so we can keep doing what we do best.

All you have to do is find your dream lease and fill out some paperwork – but the majority of the hard work is done for you.

And you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your sofa.

It’s a win-win situation, really.

Brokers aren’t just for cars

The term ‘broker’ isn’t limited to the automotive world – these helpful folk are everywhere.

Ever bought a house?

Chances are you worked with a mortgage broker to figure out how much you could borrow without living on beans on toast for the next 30 years.

There are brokers for stocks, insurance property – you name it. If there’s a complex transaction to be made, there’s probably an expert broker ready to help you navigate the unfamiliar streets and break down complex jargon.

What does a leasing broker actually do?

Here’s where it gets interesting.

A car leasing broker’s job is to introduce you to a panel of funders who can sort out the finance for your shiny new motor.

At Carparison, we work with several of the industry’s most respected funders, which means we can be pretty agile when the market decides to do something unexpected (and let’s face it, it often does).

We’ve spent years building solid relationships with leading manufacturers, which gives us access to competitive prices that we can pass on to you. It’s like having a mate in the know, but even better, because our leasing experts have decades of experience between them.

Through these relationships, we can get our hands on large volumes of vehicles across pretty much any make and model you can think of.

Want a Hyundai IONIQ 6? We’ve got you covered.

Fancy a Nissan Qashqai? No problem.

The real advantage here is choice. Unlike a dealership, who might be limited to one or two manufacturers, we match you with the car that suits your lifestyle and budget.

Who do Carparison work with?

We’ve got some pretty impressive names on our books. Here are just a few of the industry-leading funders we work with:

  • ALD
  • Arval
  • Leasys
  • Lex
  • Mobilise
  • Novuna
  • Santander
  • Volkswagen Financial Services

How do car leasing brokers make their money?

Right, let’s talk money – because transparency is our middle name.

At Carparison, we make our money when you decide to go ahead with one of the lease deals we’ve found for you. We don’t get paid if you don’t get your car. Simple as that.

The money we earn per customer isn’t fixed and can vary from deal to deal. It comes from a variety of places, including (but not limited to):

  • Arrangement fee: We charge £354.00 including VAT on all car lease deals where your finance application is accepted. If your application gets rejected, you don’t pay this fee.
  • Commission: We receive commission from the funder for introducing you to them. Here’s the thing though – we’re completely transparent about this. You can see the commission we make in the ‘deal overview’ section of every listing, and it’ll be noted on your quotations and order form.

Why do we charge an arrangement fee?

This one-time fee covers everything we do to put you in the driving seat and support you throughout your lease.

Our team is there to support you through every step of your leasing journey – from your first enquiry right through to delivery and beyond.

The advantages of using a leasing broker

The best price, guaranteed

Our Pricing team has done all the haggling, so you don’t have to. The price we offer is the best possible price we can secure on that vehicle.

No more awkward negotiations or wondering if you’re getting a fair deal – we’ve got that covered.

Choose from every make and model

Because we have a wide range of makes and models on our website, you’re not limited to just one brand. Fancy a Volvo EX30 one day but realise you actually want a Tesla Model 3 the next?

We can help with both.

Shop from your sofa

Let’s be honest – trudging around multiple dealerships on a soggy Saturday isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. With us, you can find and order your next vehicle without leaving the house.

Or the sofa. Or the bed. Or even a rollercoaster, if you fancy some extreme lease hunting.

Our process has been designed with ease in mind. You can reach us over the phone, via email, slide into our social media DMs, or book a call back with Calendly – whatever works best for you.

Got questions?

No matter how big or small, we encourage you to get in touch. You can also check out our comprehensive leasing guides for answers to some of the common questions we get.

The disadvantages of using a leasing broker

Let’s be completely honest here – there are a couple of things we can’t offer that a traditional dealership can.

No test drives at our office

We don’t have a forecourt full of shiny cars for you to test drive, because we don’t store physical stock here at Carparison HQ.

What we do recommend is popping down to your nearest dealership and test driving any vehicles you’re considering. It’s important to make sure it feels right for you, and suits your lifestyle.

You can also check out our car reviews and other online resources to gather as much information as possible before making your decision.

You might need to wait for your new car

If you rock up to a dealership, there’s a chance you could drive away in a new car the same day.

With leasing, that’s not usually the case.

The good news? Many of our best deals are in stock vehicles, meaning you’re only a short wait away from your new motor.

Factory orders can take longer – we’re talking months rather than weeks – but good things come to those who wait, right?

A service you can trust

We’re well aware of the reputation the automotive industry has, and we work pretty hard to prove that not all car people are cut from the same cloth.

From winning customer service awards to being completely transparent about our commission from day dot, we’re committed to doing things differently. We even offer the option to speak to a female member of our team, if it helps you feel more comfortable during the process.

We’re passionate about challenging stereotypes and contributing to positive change in the industry.

Are leasing brokers regulated?

Absolutely.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) keeps a close eye on car leasing companies across the UK, and we’re proud to be regulated by them.

The Treating Customers Fairly guidelines outline six principles that we must follow to make sure you have all the information you need before making your decision, and we encourage you to hunt around for several quotes before settling on a leasing broker.

Setting higher standards with Consumer Duty

Since 31st July 2023, the new Consumer Duty act has been in effect, setting higher standards for customer protection.

We act in full compliance with the FCA’s expectations, ensuring our customers receive fair prices and quality service. Our job is to match you with products that actually meet your needs – not just flog you any old car.

Don’t just take our word for it

While we’d love for you to trust us implicitly, we’d actually encourage you to read through some of the brilliant Carparison reviews our customers have left on Feefo.

Our team genuinely loves reading about the fantastic experiences our customers have had. Over the years, we’ve collected numerous customer service awards, including Feefoo’s Platinum Trusted Service Award, which is based entirely on customer reviews.

It’s proof that our customer-centric approach to car leasing really works.
